Roger Sanchez has also often been heard waxing lyrical about the sound system at Stereo in Montreal, Canada. I ask him what makes it so good and he gives all the credit to the aptly named “Sound-Man Shorty” who was responsible for putting together what Sanchez describes as “the most amazing sound system out there, for the flexibility of equalization, and especially the clarity”.

Went by SYSTEM and played around with the SBS Slammer. Played some of my favorite sounding records and all I can say is that Shorty did a great job. She’s sooo smooth and warm. I look forward to working her with people in the room. Congratulations Shorty. Job well done.

In 1993, Gureli was recruited by Clive Davis as a senior director of A&R at Arista. Later, he became the Vice President of A&R at J Records / RCA Music Group. Coinciding with his time working with Clive, Gureli continued work in underground mix shows spinning for New York’s Hot 97 in 1993.
In the 90’s, Gureli also produced a number of remixes for larger acts like Toni Braxton’s “Un-Break My Heart” JLo and Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right…But It’s Ok”. To name a few.
